The Power of Makeup Part 1: Simple Makeup

Hey :)

I'm actually supposed to be sleeping but heck, I figured why not.
I spent the whole day cleaning Shyla's cage, then cleaning my bathroom (coz it got all dirty with the drilling work and stuff) and now my room.

Am I a cleaning freak? No. It just calms me down. Especially when I have anxiety.

Anyway, that's not the point I wanna make.

I had this thought so randomly appear tonight.

The Power of Makeup, on me.

I wouldn't say I'm naturally pretty, especially since when I am at home, I always look like a very plain person. That will be revealed at the end of this post lol.

I could care less on how I look like at home. I always have my hair pulled back with a headband and I either braid it or put it in a bun or clip. I mean, what are the chances of people coming over, right? lol. Plus I need to tend to my Princess. My fussy Princess Shyla. I can't look dolled up when I clean cat poo. No.

I don't have that need lol.

Even going to uni, I sometimes feel okay to look like a plain person with no fashion sense. Sure, I still have some scarring I need to cover and stuff but at least it's not as bad as before. The only tiring part of my routine nowadays are my brows. Having to fill them in every time I go out just because I over-shaved them LOL.

Anyway, the pics I will post will follow a chronological order of when I went to KK until yesterday.

I don't take photos of myself everyday LOL. Just my cat. Who is so pretty now ( ;A; )

Tried so hard to capture her pretty eyes but I failed...
She hates posing D:
This was a lucky shot because she quickly ran away after that.

Her fur is so soft hehehe. I just bathed her the other day.

ANYWAY.

Here's a photo of me when I reached Le Meridien Hotel!

I honestly miss my reddish-pink tinged hair D:
For this, I think I only lined my eyes a little, covered my face with an uberly whitish BB Cream and filled in my brows. I lined my eyes in the car. So pro eh? LOL

Simple, simple makeup but makes such a difference.

Next:

No more reddish tinge (le crey)
This was taken on the way to celebrate SJ's birthday.
She commented I looked old here.

Which I agreed. I used eyebrow mascara on my brows and well, it gave me a weird effect instead of a youthful look. Plus the way I lined my eyes....not very nice D:

I tried doing a cat-eye shape and well, it's not flattering.

I used blush too. I guess this was full faced makeup.

Okay, next!

Taken at Giant. After big Family Dinner.
This was after my stay at Empire Hotel.

I just covered my face with mousse foundation I think and did my brows. That's about it.

Still. makes much of a difference lol.
I don't think I even bothered with my eyes.

And now, for my recent outing on Tuesday with my friends.

With my grey lenses. Painful but pretty.
Lined my eyes with blue eyeliner, and did very very neutral shadows. Did my brows thin and yeah, that's about it lol. Used Revlon Kissable Lipbalm Stain and Etude House Roll Roll Gloss in 'Chai Latte' for the lips.

This is my go-to look nowadays if I'm wearing my lenses out. The blue eyeliner is so waterproof I wanna make a review of it soon! On the same day, something bad happened that made me cry like hell and it stayed put. No smudging at all. Even taking it off with a makeup remover took time!!!

And now.....

For the bare-faced look....

*drumroll*

EEEEK!!!

Smoothened the pic a bit but that's about it lol.
Yes, I'm ugly without makeup.
Well, or rather, plain because I like my eyes lol.

And lips. If you cover my brows and nose, I look decent lol.
Took this pic from the most unflattering angle too!

So yeah.

That's the power of makeup for me.

But I'm getting lazier and lazier nowadays to put on makeup, let alone eye makeup...I just need to make sure my more noticeable scars are covered and have my bangs in front and I'm set.

The bangs make such a difference.

So you see, I don't like it when people who just see my pics assume I'm pretty, because I'm not.

There are filters, there are angles, there are ways to make yourself look pretty.

So yeah, in my mind, I don't like it when people expect me to look like my pics in real life because that's not how I look like lol.

Am I happier in my own skin now? Yes. But my past acne scars still haunt me.

I think for uni makeup, all I'll ever bother with is base makeup if I can help it lol.

But I'll never have my hair like this outside unless I'm with makeup lol.

So yeah, this is my normal bare-faced look.

So men, boys, guys out there.
Here's my face without makeup.

So don't expect me to look like a doll in reality all the time.

This Plain Jane, is what you'll get LOL.

So yeah, do you look very different without makeup?

Or do you look the same? Just enhanced your features?

Do share!

Okay then. I'm sleepy now.

Goodnight everyone!
Take care!

-Nisah-

EDITED: I used the word 'hobo' because my sis calls me that when I dress very badly. So I tend to associate it with how my plain look is. Hobo-like. But in reality, it's far from it I guess. More like very plain.

Love/Hate Products: August

OMG.
It has been SO LONG since I blogged.
I mean, properly.

First thing's first: SELAMAT HARI RAYA, MAAF ZAHIR & BATIN!!

I actually have a lot of mini hauls I did, ordered things from SaSa, from abroad...but things happened and I'm just not into it.

But I do have a collection of what I'm loving and maybe two products that is subpar from the rest.
Most of them are loves though :) which is really good.

Don't you think so?

I'm supposed to be sleeping since I have an early morning. Kinda.
I have a meeting later at university and I hope I can wake up early.

Anyway, moving on, let's talk about these products!

Skinz UV White Perfect White BB Cream
theBalm Time Balm Face Primer
SkinFood Vita Juice Hand Essence
Etude House Surprise Essence Concealer in shade 2
TheFaceShop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes
L'Oreal Anti-Frizz Serum

St.Ives Intensive Healing, Skin Renewing Body Lotions
L.A Colors Cafe Au Lait Palette
Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliner in (I'm NOT sure lol)
next Paradise (perfume)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Smoothing Cherry
SilkyGirl Pure Fresh Oil-Control Pressed Powder SPF 20
Skinz UV White Perfect White BB Cream (Love)

This was something I bought on a whim. I saw its adverts on CLEO so I was interested, but I never thought of getting it that soon. I was just walking around a supermarket when the saleslady just recommended it. She was offering 2 for a big discount but I only wanted one. I still got discount for it though. To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it at first because when she swatched it on my hand, it was pinkish white. However, on my face, it just blends after a few minutes. It has been my go-to BB Cream for a few weeks, so I have little left. It's about the same amount as my Peach Sake BB Cream. Will definitely do a full review on this one!

theBalm Time Balm Face Primer (Love/Hate)

This is the first love/hate product I have in this list. Why? Because at first it didn't work for me. It broke me out, it aggravated my acne BUT I decided to give it another chance because my acne's getting better and I've doubled my effort to cleanse my skin thoroughly every night. Sometimes it provides the best oil control but sometimes it doesn't. Weird, right? I hate the fact that it's expensive and lasts only 6 months. I also love the scent. I MIGHT do a full review on this.

SkinFood Vita Juice Hand Essence (Love)

I hated myself for even considering buying this but then I got this for redeeming my card. I didn't regret it. This is my third hand cream (I've tried two and I hated the smell and it was so sticky) and I'm loving it. It's lightweight, it absorbs fast and it smells fresh. Citrusy but not overpowering. It does soften my hand but sometimes it's not enough. But points go to the fact that the scent and texture is nice.

Etude House Surprise Essence Concealer (Love?/Hate)

This...I dunno. I kinda hate it more that I love it. I got this because my favourite SkinFood Rice Concealer smudges when I cry and the saleslady said this was waterproof. Is it? I'm not sure yet. I don't think so. Comparing my favourite concealer with this, the former provides more buildable coverage and blends easily. This, however, dries so fast on the face before I even manage to blend it. I do like it for my undereyes. I'm still trying to work this out. So far, not impressed.

TheFaceShop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes (Love)

Oh God. This has made my makeup cleaning routine much easier than before. More thorough. Depending on how thick my makeup is, sometimes I only need this to clean my face but somehow with eye makeup, I need my eyemakeup remover still. But I love this. Too bad there's only 20 wipes in it. What I do is cut them into two or three and use it based on how much makeup is on my face. It's not that expensive though.

L'Oreal Anti-Frizz Serum (Love/Hate)

I love this, especially the scent. It works well with my hair but I have such thick hair, I need to use a lot.  It works fine for a few hours but then it loses its powers soon after lol. My hair then gets affected by the surroundings that it gets very rough D: but for the scent itself, I love it to bits.

St.Ives Intense Healing, Skin Renewing Body Lotion (Love?)

Again, this is another product I love for the scent. Both somehow smells the same. Texture-wise, it's also the same. Effect? I'm not sure yet but I love to use them on my arms. It's very lightweight and absorbs fast. It's also cheap. Ish. Would I buy the full size? Maybe. This is a pleasant product to use.

L.A Colors Cafe Au Lait Palette (Love)

I got this because I'm gonna use it for my first giveaway :D I mean, I can't give it out without knowing how good it is. Is it good? Yeah. For its price, very. The only complaint I have is the frosty white shadow. It's very frosty I rarely use it. It's very soft. Is it buttery? Kinda. Comparing it to some Korean brands, this wins hands down. It has enough pigment for its price. Plus it's small and compact.

Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliner (Love)

Liplining? Not really. I use it as a matte lip shade :) and it works so well and it's so pretty with my skintone. It's very neon-like when you first use it but then once you blend it out, so beautiful. I sometimes use a clear gloss over it and it works so beautifully. Plus you can barely feel anything on your lips since it's not lipstick. I'd definitely try out the other shades!

next Paradise Perfume (Love)

I'm running out of this and I love it. I dunno where I can get this since it used to belong to my older sister. I love it. I just love it. It smells nice, not so offensive (since I'm very sensitive to scents) and it works. Best of all, I'm not allergic to it. I'm still on the hunt for a perfect perfume for me but this passes for now. Plus, it's running out ): I take this everywhere with me, since the size it so compact.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Smoothing Cherry (Love)

I'm running out of this balm, but I have a backup in the form of another Cherry flavour. I love anything cherry flavoured and this is wonderful. Granted, it all started because on my first date with my ex, we were eating ice cream and he gave me his cherry. LOLFRUITMINDYOU. It was a nice experience and it's funny too. Anyway, this works so well, I use it at night, everywhere I go I bring this, and it's less oily than my Vaseline Lip Therapy in Cherry. Lovely balm. Will definitely repurchase.

SilkyGirl Pure Fresh Oil-Control Pressed Powder SPF 20 (Hate)

This thing, I really regret getting. I thought I'd get a new pressed powder that actually helps control oil. This, does not. It does not. I get oily in just less than an hour. What is up with that. I still prefer the other SilkyGirl powder. But I'd still use this and see if I can make it work like what I did with the face primer.

---

Okay, so that's it for now. It's already so late and I don't know why I decided to write this late.
I just felt like it.

I got a new laptop now :)

A Macbook Pro. Do I like it? So far, it's okay.

I really like the trackpad.

So far.

LOL.

Okay then.

Goodnight, sweet people.

Take care.

I Got Mail!!

Yep, I got three packages in the same day :)
It was exciting since I've been down recently.
Like, very down.

Two prize mails arrived and my order from BeautyJoint arrived :)
The order was packaged very securely, it was so hard to take it out from the bubble wrap XD I guess that's a good thing. They arrived safely :O did I waste my money for the insurance? lol. I'm planning on ordering something else (next time) from the same site.

Unless I can get better deals elsewhere.

I wish e.l.f offers shipping abroad ):

Prize Mails and Order :O
The first one is from a Youtuber. This is her channel :)
She is very nice ( ^^ ) corresponding with me, making sure it arrives to Brunei safely. And it did!!!
It's a very soft brush.

Can't wait to use it with my mineral powder!

It's quite big. I hope it fits my brush case :)
e.l.f Mineral Powder Brush
These are the two things I ordered from BeautyJoint :D
Really liked the jumbo eyeliner. I really think it's quite effective in making the eyeshadow more vibrant. Due to its sticky texture, it really helps.

I don't think it creased on me when I did a test but then that was only 4 hours.
I'll try again next time to see :)

I wouldn't mind ordering more of it!! I DO need to get a sharpener for it though.

As for the eyelid primer, it's only 5ml and I'm like....what. Seriously?
But I guess you wouldn't need much of it.

I used it on one eye and I think it also prevented creasing but again, I only tested it for 4 hours.
As for vibrancy of the shadows, I think I'd need to use a more vibrant colour to test that.

L.A Colors Jumbo Pencil and e.l.f Eyelid Primer
e.l.f Eyelid Primer in Sheer
Jumbo Pencil in Sea Shells

The ingredients.
It's cruelty free :)
Other than that, the prize mail from Sasa(dot)com arrived.
There's four samples, two each of the same samples.

It's SkinPeptoxyl Fade Away Cleanser and Neutralizing Toner.

So far, I really like it, but I'm trying to stick to my AC White Clinic regimen.
It's quite natural from what the ingredients say and that really appeals to me.

It's more natural than the AC White Clinic Bubble Cleanser I guess.

Unfortunately, one of the cleansers leaked.
I think 1-2ml of the 5ml sample is gone ):

But it's okay.

SkinPeptoxyl :)

Simple Ingredients.

Apparently it's available in SaSa Malaysia. If the prices are nice and reasonable, I'd buy it.
But I'm just saying this prematurely because it didn't dry me out.

But again, this is just my first impressions.

Overall, I'm really happy with the mail packages I got :)

LOL.

For once, yes.

God, I'm very dizzy right now. I got sick ):

I really should go see a doctor. Sigh.

Okay.

'til then!

Of Etude House and PMD (and other things)

I went to Etude House in Times Square tonight lol.
I wanted to get something for my acne.

My acne cleanser was running out (St Ives one, the milder one) and I read many good reviews about AC Clinic treatment so I decided to buy a cleanser in the end. Lol, I actually wanted to get a waterproof concealer because the SkinFood one isn't waterproof (effin' sad because it's my favourite one) or an eyeshadow base (God, Canmake one sucks), I even contemplated getting a neutral quad but God, the pigmentation sucked LOL.

I think (sorry, if you love Korean cosmetics) that all the Korean cosmetics out there, in terms of eyeshadows, suck. They're all so glittery. Not shimmery, GLITTERY. Yes, you read that right, glitter.

Even Japanese ones are like that. I ask them why. They never answer, just give more glitter. GLITTER THIS, GLITTER THAT.

GLITTERMANIA.

I was swatching some of them, I thought some were nice but then I got distracted by all the unnecessary glitter. There was one of them that was basically glittermania and no pigmentation. And it was a brown one too!!! Like wtf.

LOL.

*end short rant*

Anyway, I asked the sales assistant (God, I loved her, I LOVED HER) about what the products are for, etc. I was testing her too, to see her knowledge, she was knowledgeable, which was commendable. Because, to remember all the details in a cosmetics shop is hard work. I think. Yeah. Plus she was nice and patient. Helpful especially. So I asked her what would be her recommendation for the clogged pores/small bumps inside the skin.

She recommended this:

AC Clinic White-Trouble Bubble Cleanser (cutest thing ever)
Not a lot of people favor this as it is gentler than the foaming cleanser? I read it that it's like that. But I used it tonight and I liked it :O It didn't leave my skin tight and it felt refreshed, even.

With that, she gave some samples of the same range :D
I used the 2-step toner and the Pink Powder Spot treatment!!
The Essencializer is impossible to use!!!

LOL, sorry for the lack of picture editing, I'm too tired.
LOL, and I have a Miri trip tomorrow.

Dad already warned "No MAKEUP". But that means skincare is fine right?
I joke. I joke.

I plan to get clear contact lenses, some white stockings and a pair of shoes maybe.

Oh yeah, Etude House gave this recycle bag!!
It's so effin' adorable!!

Pink and Pretty-ful
Oh yeah, I forgot to blog about this but I also got these in the same week, a few days ago.

Mint Milk Tea from Excapade! It was delicious!!
Tekka Don :D Didn't get to devour all of it. Brought it home lol.
Le Sis and Me

Love pictures like these, weirdly.
Me and My Sister again. lol. My makeup was nearly flawfree on that night.

Nearly.
On that night, I got this!
Oh my. It's a discontinued product!!
Planning on stocking on it lol.
After discount, it was around BND10.90? Or something.

Chlorella Peeling Gel from SkinFood
I think I saw this on a Youtuber. It was 50 cents only! I bought 4, I gave one to my sis.
For tonight, lol. OMG. I forgot to take pics of food. WTF.

Had Pastamania.
Didn't like Pomodoro, seriously.
The pizza was so-so.
It had good crust though.

But aglio olio and cheese sticks never fail me!!

I look quite disheveled tonight.
Dry hair is dry.
OH YEAH, I also made an order of a PMD tonight! A Personal Microderm!!
It cost around BND220 with shipping and extra disks. Not too shabby.

LOL.

So that's about it. Tomorrow, Miri :DDD

Yep yep :DD

Expect just a very small haul.

G'night :DD

Technic ADORN Makeup Set Swatch & Review

Decided to do a swatch today lol, and a small review.

I had a small review of this, here. Quite pigmented? Orly? What was I thinking.

These aren't the most sought after palette but I think it's decent, for what it is.
If you know how to work with it.
I mean, I made a slight dent on one of the colours, though that doesn't mean I love it.

It's okay for what it is.

Okay, here are the swatches:

Technic ADORN Palette
Smoky Eye Look? LOL I think so.
However, the swatches....are a let down. From L to R: Lip glosses, eyeshadows and lastly the blush.
You know, I thought I'd love this palette a lot...I do, but it's a let down.
I thought the black would be darker and more pigmented but it looks like gray!!!

The worst pigment in this palette goes to the peachy one next to the green. Oh God, It sucks. Can't do anything with it. It barely shows up on the swatch, no matter how many times I tried to swatch it!!

The one I made the most dent out of is the first eyeshadow, which is a shimmery cream. I usually use it all over my lids, then I use the next two colours for a gradient effect. It really changes the shapes of my eyes.  Because of the size, it's my go-to palette, however, that doesn't mean it has much quality.

I have a 120 palette and even though I'd love to use it, it's such a hassle.

So basically, from this palette, I only use the first four colours on the top.
I barely use the blush and the glosses.

I might try use the frosty green one because it does look pretty.

But I don't usually use blue, so I might forget about that.

I don't know the price of this palette but my sis got this for me from the UK.

If you live there and thought about picking this up, think about what you need.
Would you use the colours?

Are you fine with poor pigmentation?
If you're like me, you wouldn't mind much.

So, I think it's an okay palette to own.
I might dent the first four a bit more before moving on.

I should try use the glosses here too.

Would I recommend?
Meh.

It's okay for neutrals I guess.
Plus it's quite small and can fit in your bag, and you can apply the shadows with your fingers and it's still fine!

For the smoky look, hmmmmm.

Okay, 'til then!!

Finally It Has Arrived (Feat. A Small Haul)

Okay, I think I'm okay enough now to blog again.

So hey, how've you been?
I've been fine.

I think.

Anyway, you know how I reported my sample order from The Sample Store as lost? Well, whaddya know, it arrived last Saturday.

From Singapore TO Brunei, it takes a month plus? Really? Seriously?
REALLY?

I can't comprehend how much my small package has been volleyed around countries.
Or maybe it has been hiding in the Brunei P.O under all the big packages. Either way, I'm glad because you can only order one type of sample ONCE only from the site. It bummed me a bit at the thought lol;

So I'm happy it arrived.

Here are pics of the samples I chose:

The sample collection.
Lioele Beyond The Solution BB Cream samples
Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream samples
The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Whitening Serum samples
I haven't tried any of them since I'm using this serum already. It's Garden of Eden's Rosa T Acne Serum. It's basically Tea Tree Oil that doesn't sting as much LOL. With some extra scar healing ingredients in it. It's okay so far, I think

I'm looking forward to trying them out but not now, maybe soon.
I need to buy more of the small sample jars so I can store extras in it lol.
I'm quite stingy when it comes to the littlest drop left.

With the Rosa T Acne Serum, I also got this!!
I'm loving it so much right now.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Smoothing Cherry
Unfortunately this is the clear balm type. I really want to try out Cherry Me but I doubt the'd sell it here :(
I love anything with cherry, you see.

This might replace my HG in lip conditioning, lol. My poor Cherry Vaseline.

The thing I like most about this is that it's not as oily as the vaseline but still moisturizing.

Other than that, my order from SaSa(dot)com has arrived!!

7 items huh? Orly?
Ooooh, a Sasa plastic bag!!
Tee-hee. So excited for this!
As you can see, there are actually 9 items. One item was a set of three lol, so yeah. Good deal.
Oh, and you can see I ordered a back-up of the Sasatinnie Hair Mask.

It's THAT good.
It is.

I might try out the Spot Whitening Serum tonight.

I know I should list the things I got but I'll save that for later lol.

Oh, and I'm quite disappointed. I thought when I ordered this, there was a free mask promo.
Apparently I didn't get it. LOL. I didn't notice that I didn't :(

Ah well, I have like, 6 masks in that box so I'm fine!!

I'm tired.

So yeah, 'til then!!

Steaks and Drama

Hey guys! (Assuming people actually read my blog lol)
I got some good news (kinda).

Well, actually I've been fasting for two days so I got to eat my steak tonight! Although it was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered for" medium well" and they gave "burnt well done". It hurt my teeth :(

At least the teriyaki sauce was nice.
It had caramelized onions in it and it was nice!

Here's the culprit to my toothache!

Australian Rib-Eye Steak in....Burnt Well Done.
Yesterday I also fasted and impulsively made Baked Vanilla Lemon Cheesecake!
For something without a recipe, I'd say job well done to myself!

Although, being me, there's bound to be lumps here and there in my batter.
Sheesh.

This is why I can't be a pastry chef.

The small potted ones. These were thicker in taste compared to the thinner bigger one I made.
How it looks like inside. YUM.
I really liked tartness of it. It's not too sour yet it's still quite lemony which I liked.

On another note, I played around with my mom's 2+ year old M.A.C Quad. It's in Amazon I think.
I expected pigmented things but was quite disappointed.

But I do like the soft texture of it.
Really soft.

Too bad it's old. But still usable I think.

M.A.C Amazon Quad Palette
Crappy swatches :x

I have to say I really liked the colour combination, as odd as it is. But I won't use the purple one I think lol. I can play with this for a while. Yay.

Oh and, important update on the The Body Shop drama.

I went again, this time with my mom, to go see the manager. Thank goodness one of the SAs remembered me (although pointing out I was with a guy on that day was kinda rude lol) and I just voiced my concern that they haven't contacted me like promised.

Me and my mom gave back our body mists to them.
They told me they might just let us exchange with an item.

But yeah, they were kinda surprised the person who promised to contact me didn't.
So they gave us a card with her name and phone number.
They also told me that they will remind her to call me.

If not, I'd have to call her.

Apparently by "office", she meant Singapore. Oh really?
Brunei goes through Singapore?
How.....sad.

But well, I got this because I couldn't resist putting it off any longer.
The Chocomania line heart soap lol.

Wanted the smaller ones but mom chose this one instead. It smells more like perfume than chocolate.
Well, hopefully this time they'll be more considerate.
We ARE paying customers.
Members even.

Sigh.

I also bought two of these tonight:

Deodorant. Hah. It does contain Aluminium Chlorohydrate but meh.
I read that it's not good for the body :( but this freaking brand does work all day.
That's that.

My natural salts deodorant sucks LOL.

I had high hopes for that expensive s*it.

Oh well.

'til then! Good night!
