Makeup Practice

I was supposed to blog about this yesterday but I'm so tired, I'll just post two pics I took today :)

You can see my falsies~ it looks so natural, no?

A simple look.
Sadly, this was done just for playing around with makeup. I need to get better at application, so I need to practice.

I can tell you something though!

I tried cleaning my makeup brushes with THAT shampoo.

Guess what?

It's good!

Thank goodness it works for that. If not, I'd still be crying.

I don't think it ruined the brushes at all. I haven't tested it out but I think it got softer instead, which is a plus. The Elianto blush brushes are somewhat scratchy on my skin!

I should do a review on that brush set. I've had it for a while...my sis got it for me.

Oh yeah, on the photos, my hair looks fried no? I didn't use curlers or anything, just did braids. I just didn't bother to use gel, wax or cream to keep the waves because I was just testing out a look.

I need to buy new clothes one of these days. I need looser clothes as I feel more comfortable in them.

The hairpiece I used in this photo is actually a pin. I just pinned it to my hair, not my skin, my hair.

I'm tired and I need to sleep.

Goodnight all!

Yogurt Twister

Twisted!!
Today's my parents' anniversary. We went to Excapade Sushi in Gadong. I was too busy eating I forgot to snap some pictures. I need to get myself a good camera first because my phone doesn't take pictures well in dim light and we all know that the main branch is always dark in atmosphere.

I tried out one of their new menus, one of the udons. They served it on a pot with fire and it kept on boiling the curry in it, burning my tongue. I had to request for the flames to be put out, only then did I enjoy my meal. I thought the salmon was supposed to be raw though, it came cooked. Disappointed.

Anyway, I wanted to go to a supermarket to buy dessert. I can't have food without my dessert, just like a spoiled child! I wanted ice cream but the place we went to didn't sell any. Bummer.

So~ I decided to buy a drink. It's ice blended, right? lol.

'Yogurt Twister' from Kokoberry!

I LOVE anything with yogurt! Even yogurt chocolate. It's so good. I really don't know why I love yogurt, I just do! Putting yogurt on your face...even though it's healthy...the smell is just----ugh. lol. But it can be refreshing.

Somehow tonight, the taste wasn't as good as the first time I tried it. I didn't taste the chocolate. I tasted the yogurt a little but then somehow it was bland.

In the pic, the snack behind the drink is also something I like eating. But none of that tonight...sad :(

Other than that, I also bought St. Ives 'Mineral Clay Firming Mask'! I wanted to buy this at Winmark but they didn't have it. I saw that it was BND$8.40 and thought that it was cheaper than other places. It's 134g though for the price :I I hate the pricing here. It's like what? $3.97 in the US? According to that website I checked anyway.

I've bought many different products this week, and weeks before that too. Some I liked, some...not so much.

But I'll still use them. I have two facial cleansers from The Face Shop, a Cyclax body scrub and body butter, a soap that's supposed to be good for the skin...I'll try and post pics on my next post.

What I like using so far is the Cyclax stuff and the soap. It's a Philippines product, the soap. I thought it would be drying like this other soap I tried but it's not! I'm not sure if I'm breaking out from it or what but problem areas like my cheeks and jawline hasn't had any for a few days. I've had two on my forehead and two on the sides of my eyes. I think my glasses need to be disinfected with alcohol :(

I did take a pic of my face before I used the soap, so I'll see in two weeks to see if there are any positive changes. I also use it on my body.

So, tonight I'm gonna see if the mineral clay mask dries out my spots or not. I pray to God that it does. I hope it works for me!!! I don't want any wastage going on like that friggin' shampoo. I might give it away to someone whose hair suits that effin' shampoo. I just don't want to look at it anymore! It depresses me.

I guess it depresses me more because I bought it with my own money. I'm a student without allowances so...it's just sad.

Sigh. I haven't tried it to wash my brushes. I might try tonight.

Either way, I hope it works. At least, for something.

I'm so full from dinner!! Might sleep early tonight.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't wear makeup tonight, no need to cleanse face like hell. I don't like using the makeup remover that mom bought for me from Etude House. It's too oily. It also has mineral oil!

Happy Anniversary, mom and dad~ I think it's their 32nd Anniversary? I think so.

Too much FOOD.

Hey.

Today I went to school despite the study leave. Had a great time, even though I got a bit teary eyed when I talked about my problems to my friend but overall it was okay.

Well, not really.

I had this disagreement with my mom so I just gobbled up a little bit more than I could chew. Three different savoury buns from Soon Lee.

I bought the curry donuts (can't beat Hua Ho's), the beef burger bun (a beef patty on a bun, with mayo and chili among others) and the tuna bun. Too much? Yes. Too much. It was enough to just eat the beef burger bun really, as I ended up really liking it. The curry donuts on the other hand...wouldn't buy it again. Twice was enough. The tuna bun...I haven't really finished it.

I've got half of it left.

It looks like a brain, no? Tuna Brain Bun.

Truth be told, I shouldn't have devoured the buns so fast. I was hungry, yes, but it didn't warrant me eating three at one time.

I just got depressed by the time I went home.

I thought food would fix it. No. Never. Food's just there.

On top of that, I also bought this cake, American Chocolate Cake, also from the same place.

That one is gooood.

( '3' ) it's not too sweet for me.

On top of that I also had a small box of Milo and drank plenty of water.

But you know what? It didn't make me feel any better.
In fact, I had indigestion.

What's the moral of the day?
Sadness and depression does not equate to you eating without thinking.

...now I feel so uneasy.

So now, I shall drink green tea.

Mogu Mogu

Yesterday, other than buying the disastrous shampoo mentioned here, I also bought chocolate and a drink. The chocolate is something I'm used to buying but the drink is something new.

I tried out this juice:
'Mogu Mogu: Pineapple Juice', 320 ml

Cute, ain't it? Bad quality pic, sorry!
What it contains:

- Pineapple Juice 25%
- Nata de coco 25%
- Fructose 4%
- Sucrose 4%
- Citric Acid 0.1%
*Artificial colour and nature identical flavour preservative added* (weird, lol)

Hmmmm, it's a product of Thailand, but it uses Japanese. Weird, huh? I guess in some ways, it appealed to me as I like Japanese food. Despite that, this is not Japanese. Another selling point was that it had nata de coco, which is a chewy coconut jelly.I LOVE anything with nata de coco!!! There were also other flavours but I chose pineapple because I like pineapple juice in general, and the fruit too.

This is also a 'halal' product, which is also good :D

My thoughts on it?
I like it!

It's a refreshing juice, I was in the car and I just drank it while eating the chocolate too. To me the sweet-tooth, it wasn't that sweet, despite it having nata de coco. I guess it kinda neutralizes the sweetness when you chew the jelly. I think it also has soluble fiber.

I'm not really sure about the health content but I wouldn't buy this often anyway. My favourite drink will always be a glass of cold water. I bought this at a supermarket and the price was BND$1.00.

Other flavours are grape, lychee, strawberry and mango I think. I shall try them another time. I don't like lychee flavoured drinks as much, I prefer the fruit so I might think hard if I were to try it.

But I really have to say that this was a refreshing discovery as I've always been curious about it.

My only beef would be the price but then I think it's originally sold with a BND$1.20 price tag? I guess it should be fine.

I think it's sold worldwide? I'm not sure but it's definitely sold in Brunei.

At least there was something worthwhile from yesterday's purchase...

If you have the chance, do try it out!!

Hi! (...and a bad review)

Hello, and welcome to my new blog! My name's Nisah and as much as I love writing, I can't seem to be a very consistent blogger. I've had many blogs in the past but I always neglect them. Either that or I just got too depressed to update. It got too negative and such, so I abandoned them :(

But this time, fueled by reading blogs (beauty blogs, really) for the last few days, I figured: "Why not?"

I've been getting into makeup and beauty products lately and being such an impulsive buyer, I can't help but wonder if maybe my experiences and curiosity to try out things can be beneficial for others? I'm not a pro with these things, I'm still learning but there must be something that is SO bad that I have to really tell people!

I want to rant too!

Especially after buying this shampoo today: *WARNING: LONG RANT AHEAD*
'Herbal Essences: Rainforest Flowers Shimmering Colour' for Coloured/Highlighted Hair.

It looks so innocent...
I've been contemplating on changing my shampoo for a while now, having used Sunsilk's Silky Smooth & Manageable line for a while. I've used the shampoo, the conditioner, the treatment thingy and even the leave on conditioner. It's good and I like the fragrance of it but then, probably my hair became immune to it. A few months ago, I also dyed my hair for the first time and I figured maybe this time, I should buy a shampoo that can help my newly coloured hair...and I thought today's impulse buy might be the answer.

Boy, was I wrong.

I should have listened to my heart and buy L'oreal or Asience shampoos. The former is used by my close friend and she seemed to like it. The latter was recommended by my boyfriend whose hair is sooooo smooth that I'm quite jealous of it. It's quite embarrassing being the female counterpart in the relationship and I have worse hair than him. Well, that's just my self-esteem talking. And where has my impulse buy landed me today?

Something close to Hell.

If there was a Hell for worst shampoos, this should be going straight there. I wouldn't even question its sins, I'll just kick it to the deepest pits.

It's just that bad. So bad that I have to make it my first post on my new blog.

I just need to let it out because I'm so disappointed!!!

You know what's even worse?

This is not my first bad encounter from the same brand.

A few years ago (or maybe just three or more), I bought the 'Herbal Essences: Colour Me Shiny', because that was the only one available. This was a stupid purchase of course, since my hair wasn't coloured. I never realized its bad effects on my hair until the last minute.

I used half of it up, both shampoo and conditioner and only realized how brittle and rough my hair became when it just became unbearable. I never, never thought that the shampoo was the cause, as I've always had questionable hair.

After the damage was done, I finally gave it up. Stopped using it and opted for something else.

Fast-forward to today, I thought of giving this brand another chance. My hair was coloured this time, it shouldn't be bad right?

WRONG.

I read the instructions (because I like reading the backing of products) over and over again, 'lather, massage, rinse'...it was always there. I squirted some onto my palms and into my wet hair. I started massaging, and realized that it got harder and harder to massage. My hair became tangled, my eyes bulged, I started worrying. I thought it was just my imagination but my hair became obviously brittle. I can hear hair snap, the more I massaged it. SNAP. IT SNAPPED. I looked down and saw that the hair that pooled around my feet was thrice the amount that's usual.

I got worried and read the instructions again. I don't know why but reading the instructions like a good girl, I was trying to identify what I did wrong. Nothing. I did nothing wrong!!

Worried, I just rinsed it with water. But during that time, it was just impossible. My hair was already damaged. I couldn't untangle it, even with my shampoo comb thingy. I just hurriedly put on the conditioner it came with. That didn't help either.

I wanted to tear up so badly because the other day, I just used olive oil to condition it and now my hair's ruined.

So now, I have my hair in olive oil again, hoping that it'll help revive it.

Please work for me...
Sigh.

The other reason why I decided to buy this brand was because when I was young, this was the shampoo me and my sisters used and it looked exactly the same...except it wasn't for coloured hair.

I really don't know if it's just the ones for colour-treated hair but I really don't want to try this shampoo again. I don't want to gamble with it anymore...

I wish the shops here have return policies but they do not. I merely made a dent to the shampoo. It still looks so brand new...

I don't know what to do with it.

Maybe I can use it to wash my paintbrushes or something but what if it damages it too? That just sucks.

This was long. Such a long rant.

Would I recommend it? No. But if it works for you, then yay.

But seriously, you f-ed my hair up Herbal Essences. BIG THUMBS DOWN.

*cries*
