Package from The Sample Store: Hair Care Kit Review

So, my order from The Sample Store arrived.
I'm not saying today, because it arrived in my country on the 9th, and it's the 12th today.

I had my brother get it for me, so as usual, by the time it arrives in my room, the package is ripped by customs.

A part of me was disappointed.
The samples this time around was different. The only reason why I decided to order it was because it seemed promising. It was also a gamble to order because my first order sample never arrived D:

To be safe, I used the Registered Postage thing.
You can see it here.

This is useless to me!!!
I think it promised to be delivered to your doorstep (I guess that only applies to Singapore) and the effing tracking number didn't even work for this country I am in!!!!! SUCH A WASTE.

AT LEAST IT ARRIVED. That, I'm glad. I guess it works more like insurance for the package.

Okay, so. the first thing I noticed was the fact that they RE-USED a box given to them by SaSa, you can clearly see it here:

SASA FREE GIFT SET

I mean, I don't mind them doing it, because they wouldn't expect me to find out is it? lol; with all the stamps all over it. But I did.

LOL you haven't seen the other stamps!
I dunno if it's their fault or customs, but I wasn't thrilled with the way they wrapped the things either.

I usually get these from eBay orders....
I see all these people get bubble-wraps, well, I mean, my SaSa(dot)com packages looked a LOT neater.

With bubble wraps and Styrofoam.

But I guess it should have been me who opened it, at least I'd know how it looks like. So that's okay.
I'll let it slide.

As for the things inside....

Got a bit sad :(

I mean, 7 of the things are items I already used (SunSilk samples) and God, I still have them! Use them even! LOL but at least I know they work. Kinda. I can definitely say the Weather Defense Light Cream works, but I hate the scent, so I rarely use it.

What I wanted the most was the Elseve Serums...and unfortunately for this batch, no such luck.

It looks awesome until you try sifting through them :(
List of the things I got:

- SunSilk Weather Defense Shield & Frizz Control Light Cream x5 (5ml)
- SunSilk Silky Smooth & Manageable Shampoo x1 (30ml)
- SunSilk Silky Smooth & Manageable Shampoo x1 (30ml)
- L'oreal Elseve Nutri-Gloss Light Caring Shampoo x1 (50ml)
- L'oreal Elseve Damage Care Repairing Shampoo x2 (50ml each)
- L'oreal Elseve Re-Nutrition Caring Shampoo x2 (50ml each)
- L'oreal Elseve Smooth-Intense Nutri-Smoothing Mask x5 (15ml each)
- L'oreal Elseve Re-Nutrition Mask x5 (15ml each)
- Palmer's Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo x2 (4ml each)
- Palmer's Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo x1 (4ml)
- Bawang Anti-Hair fall Shampoo x1 (8ml)
- Bawang Hair-Strengthening Shampoo x1 (8 ml)
- SilkyShine Straight & Smooth Set x5 (Didn't disclose the amount)

In total: 32

However in each of the SilkyShine Set, there's Scalp Care & Dandruff Control Shampoo, Straight & Smooth Shampoo and a Straight & Smooth Conditioner. So in actuality it's that, x5. That totals to 15 samples.

So is the total: 42?

That doesn't make it 35 is it.

Honestly I don't know how you're supposed to count 35 samples.

Because if I count individually (without counting the packets inside the cards), it'd be 31.

So, what's up with that?

So did I just receive 31 samples? Or 32 if I count the Bawang one as two, like what I did up there.

Sigh.
I keep getting disappointed.

Is it because I'm from abroad that they don't care to please as much? I'm sure that's not the case, right?
They should as least provide a list of all the samples we get.
That's the least they can do, to simplify things.

Other than the SunSilk samples, I'm excited to try the rest of them at least. Especially the Palmer's one, because I wanted to try that one out the other day. THAT ONE, I was excited to get (too bad it's a sachet sample)

Anyway, if anyone would like to explain HOW to count the samples, please do help me :)

Much appreciated.

'til then!

(Helping out my fellow friend/blogger edit her photos for her layout :) will link it next time!)

EDIT: I tried out one of the L'oreal Elseve shampoos (the white one) and I loved it!!! My sister recommended the yellow one (...the one manufactured in 2008 LOL) as a good one, so I'll try it out next time.

EDIT2: Meh, apparently I have no choice but to have it registered LOL; they won't give me no for an answer LOLOLOL. ( =w= * ) ah well. 7 days is okay.

EDIT3: Reusing boxes are normal for them I guess, so that's okay. On a side note, I had sent an email inquiring about my lost samples ): they haven't replied. Hopefully soon. Or hopefully the package arriving today is theirs. It's the first one I ordered.

Makeup Practice

I was supposed to blog about this yesterday but I'm so tired, I'll just post two pics I took today :)

You can see my falsies~ it looks so natural, no?

A simple look.
Sadly, this was done just for playing around with makeup. I need to get better at application, so I need to practice.

I can tell you something though!

I tried cleaning my makeup brushes with THAT shampoo.

Guess what?

It's good!

Thank goodness it works for that. If not, I'd still be crying.

I don't think it ruined the brushes at all. I haven't tested it out but I think it got softer instead, which is a plus. The Elianto blush brushes are somewhat scratchy on my skin!

I should do a review on that brush set. I've had it for a while...my sis got it for me.

Oh yeah, on the photos, my hair looks fried no? I didn't use curlers or anything, just did braids. I just didn't bother to use gel, wax or cream to keep the waves because I was just testing out a look.

I need to buy new clothes one of these days. I need looser clothes as I feel more comfortable in them.

The hairpiece I used in this photo is actually a pin. I just pinned it to my hair, not my skin, my hair.

I'm tired and I need to sleep.

Goodnight all!

Hi! (...and a bad review)

Hello, and welcome to my new blog! My name's Nisah and as much as I love writing, I can't seem to be a very consistent blogger. I've had many blogs in the past but I always neglect them. Either that or I just got too depressed to update. It got too negative and such, so I abandoned them :(

But this time, fueled by reading blogs (beauty blogs, really) for the last few days, I figured: "Why not?"

I've been getting into makeup and beauty products lately and being such an impulsive buyer, I can't help but wonder if maybe my experiences and curiosity to try out things can be beneficial for others? I'm not a pro with these things, I'm still learning but there must be something that is SO bad that I have to really tell people!

I want to rant too!

Especially after buying this shampoo today: *WARNING: LONG RANT AHEAD*
'Herbal Essences: Rainforest Flowers Shimmering Colour' for Coloured/Highlighted Hair.

It looks so innocent...
I've been contemplating on changing my shampoo for a while now, having used Sunsilk's Silky Smooth & Manageable line for a while. I've used the shampoo, the conditioner, the treatment thingy and even the leave on conditioner. It's good and I like the fragrance of it but then, probably my hair became immune to it. A few months ago, I also dyed my hair for the first time and I figured maybe this time, I should buy a shampoo that can help my newly coloured hair...and I thought today's impulse buy might be the answer.

Boy, was I wrong.

I should have listened to my heart and buy L'oreal or Asience shampoos. The former is used by my close friend and she seemed to like it. The latter was recommended by my boyfriend whose hair is sooooo smooth that I'm quite jealous of it. It's quite embarrassing being the female counterpart in the relationship and I have worse hair than him. Well, that's just my self-esteem talking. And where has my impulse buy landed me today?

Something close to Hell.

If there was a Hell for worst shampoos, this should be going straight there. I wouldn't even question its sins, I'll just kick it to the deepest pits.

It's just that bad. So bad that I have to make it my first post on my new blog.

I just need to let it out because I'm so disappointed!!!

You know what's even worse?

This is not my first bad encounter from the same brand.

A few years ago (or maybe just three or more), I bought the 'Herbal Essences: Colour Me Shiny', because that was the only one available. This was a stupid purchase of course, since my hair wasn't coloured. I never realized its bad effects on my hair until the last minute.

I used half of it up, both shampoo and conditioner and only realized how brittle and rough my hair became when it just became unbearable. I never, never thought that the shampoo was the cause, as I've always had questionable hair.

After the damage was done, I finally gave it up. Stopped using it and opted for something else.

Fast-forward to today, I thought of giving this brand another chance. My hair was coloured this time, it shouldn't be bad right?

WRONG.

I read the instructions (because I like reading the backing of products) over and over again, 'lather, massage, rinse'...it was always there. I squirted some onto my palms and into my wet hair. I started massaging, and realized that it got harder and harder to massage. My hair became tangled, my eyes bulged, I started worrying. I thought it was just my imagination but my hair became obviously brittle. I can hear hair snap, the more I massaged it. SNAP. IT SNAPPED. I looked down and saw that the hair that pooled around my feet was thrice the amount that's usual.

I got worried and read the instructions again. I don't know why but reading the instructions like a good girl, I was trying to identify what I did wrong. Nothing. I did nothing wrong!!

Worried, I just rinsed it with water. But during that time, it was just impossible. My hair was already damaged. I couldn't untangle it, even with my shampoo comb thingy. I just hurriedly put on the conditioner it came with. That didn't help either.

I wanted to tear up so badly because the other day, I just used olive oil to condition it and now my hair's ruined.

So now, I have my hair in olive oil again, hoping that it'll help revive it.

Please work for me...
Sigh.

The other reason why I decided to buy this brand was because when I was young, this was the shampoo me and my sisters used and it looked exactly the same...except it wasn't for coloured hair.

I really don't know if it's just the ones for colour-treated hair but I really don't want to try this shampoo again. I don't want to gamble with it anymore...

I wish the shops here have return policies but they do not. I merely made a dent to the shampoo. It still looks so brand new...

I don't know what to do with it.

Maybe I can use it to wash my paintbrushes or something but what if it damages it too? That just sucks.

This was long. Such a long rant.

Would I recommend it? No. But if it works for you, then yay.

But seriously, you f-ed my hair up Herbal Essences. BIG THUMBS DOWN.

*cries*
